MISNet Dial Up Networking Properties
Attention: These screen shots are from Windows 98. Users
who have Windows 95, should note that what you see on your computer will be a
little different. But the settings are the same you should be able to find and
input these settings just fine. If you have any problems, call the support staff
at (888-275-4245)
To reach your MISNet dialing settings, double click on My
computer, you will then see something like this.

In Dial Up Networking, right click on your MISNet
icon. Select Properties

This is your general settings for your connection. You should have your
local telephone number for MISNet listed here. (Shown below is our
Albany V.90 access number.) Make sure Use area
code and Dialing Properties is deactivated, and your modem is showing
under Connect using
If you click on Configure, you will go to the
modem settings. Click here
to see those settings.

By clicking on Server Types you come to this
window. In Type of Dial-Up Server, you
should have PPP. For Advanced
options you should only have Log on to network,
and Enable software compression checked.
In Allowed network protocols, all you need
checked is TCP/IP. To get to the next
screen, click on TCP/IP Settings...
You should note that you need only 2 items checked here, "Enable Software
Compression" and "TCP/IP." If you have anything else here, you
should remove the check marks. Sometimes having the other protocols enabled can
cause problems with Windows 95 and 98 in establishing a connection.

This is the settings window for TCP/IP. MISNet's servers assign all IP
addresses to your computer. All settings should be Server Assigned, Use IP
Header Compression and Use Default Gateway On Remote network should be
checked. Click OK.

This is the Scripting tab, this should be left
alone.

This is the Multilink tab, and like Scripting
this should be left at it's defaults.
